Photography, Renderings & Video
the shot list, the formats needed, and who owns the images
A venue is sold on photographs.
Phase 1: renderings
Scott Edwards Architecture produced renderings for the project, and MOWP has used them in capital campaign material. Four to six of them carry the phase 1 page.
Which renderings can be published, and whether the architect requires a credit. Architectural renderings usually carry usage terms.
It reads as a picture of a building. A caption saying what room it is and where it sits in the building turns it into information.
Phase 2: the shot list
Shot to fill the pages, not shot and then sorted. Roughly forty usable images.
| Group | What's needed |
|---|---|
| The empty room | Wide, from each corner. Set for a seated dinner. Set theater. Set classroom. Detail of the floor, windows and ceiling |
| The roof deck | Wide in daylight. Wide at golden hour. Wide after dark with lighting on. The outlook. Seated and standing setups |
| In use | A wedding, a meeting, a family celebration |
| Food | Plated, buffet, a reception spread, the kitchen at work |
| The building | Exterior with signage, entrance, parking, the lobby, the stairs or elevator up |
| Details | AV in use, the bar, table settings, the load-in door |
Photograph the opening event properly. It's happening anyway, and it produces the "in use" images.
Video
A tour video, ninety seconds, walking the route a visitor walks: entrance, up, into the room, out to the deck. Narrated or captioned. It lives on The Space, where the room is being evaluated, with Home linking to it.
Is there budget for video in phase 2, or does the gallery carry the site at launch with video added later?
The floorplan
The architectural drawing is not the deliverable. What the site needs is a simplified version: the room outline with dimensions, the deck, exits, restrooms, the elevator, power drops, and where a bar or stage would go.
Produced once, published two ways: viewable on The Space, and folded into the spec sheet alongside the capacity chart and the rate range.
Whether the architect can supply a simplified plan, or whether one gets drawn from their drawings.
Formats and rights
- Images delivered at full resolution and resized by the site. One upload, every size.
- Every image needs alt text describing what it shows, written when it's uploaded rather than in a later pass.
- Model releases for anyone identifiable in an event photograph.
Who holds the copyright on the event photography, and whether MOWP can use images of a client's wedding in its own marketing. This is normally settled in the rental contract rather than afterwards.
For where each image is used, see Page Outlines.
